GARWOOD DISTRICT VOTES 133 To 12 FOR SCHOOL BOND ISSUEEagle Lake. Tex., Oct. 31.--In a special election held at Garwood the Garwood Independent School District voted 133 for to 12 against issuing bonds for construction of a new school building.
A PWA loan and grant has been approved for the district for $60.000. Forty-five per cent of the amount is a government grant.
Harry D. Payne. Houston architect is handling plans and specifications for the new building, which will be a one-story brick, tile and concrete, housing nine instruction rooms, library, home-making department. science laboratory, an auditorium of 650 seating capacity, gymnasium, shower and dressing room. The building is to be of the Mediterranean type of architecture.
E. G. Marshall is superintendent of the Garwood schools, which having recently consolidated with neighboring school districts, claims the largest independent school district in Colorado County.
