The Colorado Citizen, July 8, 1880 reported the following:

OUR SCHOOL.—At a meeting of the Board of Trustees appointed by Columbus LODGE, NO. 51, I. O. O. F., and by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen,on the 6th last, the following officers were elected : R, L. Foard, President; J. N. Binkley, Vice-President; Chas. J. G. Leesemann, Secretary; Hugo Miller, Treasurer. The Board agreed to call the school Colorado Academy. Messrs. E. C. Sronce, Jas. A. Toliver, H. Boedeker, Ed. Obenchairn and Jas. A. Seymour were appointed a building committee to collect subscriptions. Five members of the Board constitute a quorum, and the meetings are appointed for the first and third Tuesday in each month. Treasurer required to give a bond of $2000. Twenty-five per cent. of subscriptions are to be collected as soon as practicable. We are indebted to Secretary Leesemann for the abaove data

In another column, is found:

The school committee will collect only one-fourth the amount subscribed at present, unless a subscriber desires to pay all his subscription, when the committee is authorized to receive it. By this means the amount can be paid up without any hardship.

We notice the following pupils attending Colorado Academy: From Eagle Lake, Murray McNeill, Oldham McCarty and Miss Nettie Johnson; from Alleyton, John Carrie and Luella McLeod and Lee Gregory; from Osage, Misses Mattie Hubbard and Mary Jenkins; from the county, Carrie and Joe Stafford, James and Ben Stafford, Susie and Joe Pinchback, John and Leevo Hester, John and Effie Carlton, Reeg and Josie Carter, Miss Maggie Mahon, Alf. Townsend, Misses Ida McLeod, Sally Drane, Mollie Obenhaus.
