Funeral Services for Christine C. Stavinoha of Industry were held from Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus Monday. January 18. 1993 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Dennis Keen officiating.
Burial was in Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery in Columbus.
Mrs. Stavinoha passed away January 16 in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. She was 71 years of age.
Born in Fayette County December 20, 1921, she was the daughter of Edward and Celie (Cernota) Bertsch. She married Louis Stavinoha December 5, 1935 and was a housewife and lifetime resident of the Austin County area.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Doris and H. L. Daughtrey of Industry: ex-husband, Louis Stavinoha of La Grange: grandsons and wives, Herman and Betty Ann Daughtrey and Edward and Kathy Daughtrey, all of Industry and Alan and Kathy Daughtrey of Weimar; great grandchildren. Lynn, Diana, Herman III, Sandra Daughtrey, Michael and Jessica Daughtrey. Shawn, Amy Chrystal Morris.
Pallbearers were Edward Daughtrey, Michael Daughtrey,
Shawn Morris, Alan Daughtrey, Herman Daughtrey, Herman Daughtrey III and Michael Wick.

Vehicle accident takes life of '94 CHS graduate

A 31-year-old East Bernard man died early Wednesday after his pickup struck an 18-wheeler head on, according to Texas Department of Public Safety.
Christopher Stavinoha was pronounced dead at the scene.
The truck driver, 41-year-old Ryan Parsons of El Campo, was taken for treatment to El Campo Memorial Hospital and released.
The wreck south of Wharton occurred at 2:36 a.m. Wednesday when Stavinoha was driving his 2002 Ford pickup northbound in the southbound lane, DPS said. His pickup hit the 2005 Sterling truck tractor that was towing a van head-on, according to the DPS accident report.
The tractor trailer rolled over in the median and blocked all four lanes of U.S. 59.
Stavinoha was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.
According to DPS, the accident is still under investigation and they are awaiting the results of an autopsy.

Services for Christopher Alan Stavinoha, 31, of Louise were held March 3 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Columbus with Father Dan Kahlich officiating.
Burial followed at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery in Columbus.
Stavinoha died Feb. 28 in an automobile accident near Wharton.
He was born on Jan. 29, 1976, in Wharton, the son of Donald Lee Sr. and Mildred Marie Machart Stavinoha.
Stavinoha had been a resident of Louise for the past two years and was a former resident of Palacios. He was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include his son; Chase Andrew Stavinoha of East Bernard; parents of Palacios; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Carol Ann and Benny Husinecky Jr., Karen Sue and Douglas Eugene Koehler, all of Wharton, Sandra Jean Graeber of Hungerford, and Tina Marie Stavinoha of Bay City; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald Lee "Buddy" and Trudi Stavinoha, Kevin Lee and Christina Stavinoha, all of Columbus, and Jody and Amy Stavinoha of Wharton: and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Eddie Russell, Bradley Stancik, Kyle Lewis, Stephen Dirba, Johnny Gresham, Dan Mazza, Ray Stavinoha and Frank Miculka.
Honorary pallbearers were his son, Chase, brother, Riley Henke, and all his nieces and nephews.

Christopher Alan Stavinoha, age 31, of Louise, died early Wednesday morning, Feb. 28, 2007, in an automobile accident near Wharton. He was born on Jan. 29, 1976, in Wharton the son of Donald Lee Stavinoha Sr. and Mildred Marie Machart Stavinoha.
Mr. Stavinoha had been a resident of Louise for the past two years and was a former resident of Palacios. He was Catholic by faith and enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking and spending time with his son, Chase.
A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2007, at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home and a Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. today, Saturday, March 3, 2007, at St. Anthony?s Catholic Church in Columbus with Rev. Dan Kahlich officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery in Columbus.

Stavinoha
Emma Stavinoha, 86, of Glidden passed away Oct. 19 at Colorado-Fayette Medical Center in Weimar.
She was born in Swiss Alp, March 13, 1917 to Edward and Anna (Billeck) Ohnheiser and married Victor J. Stavinoha, Oct. 11, 1939.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; eight brothers; and five sisters.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Robert Cooper of Sealy; sons and daughters-in-law, LeRoy and Marilyn Stavinoha of Katy and Gary and Patty Stavinoha of Mentz; sisters, Martha Krause of Schulenburg, Olga Schuetze of El Campo, Elsie Krhovjak of Glidden; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A rosary is planned for 7 p.m. Oct. 21 at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Oct. 22 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus with Fr. Dan Kahlich officiating. Interment will follow at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Columbus.
Pallbearers were Blake Newson, Shawn Cooper, Timothy Faltysek, Clinton Nierlich, Michael Ohnheiser and Edwin Stavinoha.

F. Stavinoha Funeral Services Held Jan. 25
Florian (Flo) Stavinoha, 74 of Weimar died Jan. 22 at his home. Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 25 at St. Michael Catholic Church with Father John Bily officiating.
Interment followed at St. Michael Cemetery.
Florian was born July 29, 1932 in Hostyn to Edmond and Betty (Kallus) Stavinoha.
Flo attended Schulenburg High School.
He was in the Army from Jan. 27, 1955 to Jan. 27, 1957.
Florian married Bernice (Liska) Stavinoha.
Flo was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council No. 2153; American Legion No. 0259; and was the director of the New Bielau Community Center.
He was very active in supporting the local youth. He touched many young men's and women's lives through his generosity by supporting various FFA and 4-H projects in Colorado, Fayette, Fort Bend and Harris Counties. He was also a supporter of St. Michael Church and School.
Flo retired in 1998 in Weimar where he was active as a farmer, rancher, hunter, sausage maker, gardener, custom cabinet maker and trim, and carpenter.
He was a very fun loving guy who loved to entertain family and friends with fish fries, crawfish boil, Bar-B-Ques, etc.
Florian lived in this area for 30 years. He was raised in Ammannsville and also lived in Houston from 1949-1995, and Stafford from 1995-1996.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice Stavinoha of Weimar; and children, Donnie Stavinoha and wife Sue Ann of Richmond, Michael Stavinoha and wife Edna of Columbus, Nancy Kalan of San Antonio, and Diane Sciba and husband Bill of Columbus.
He is also survived by his brothers, Thomas Stavinoha of Weimar, Felix Stavinoha of High Hill, Pete Stavinoha of Ammannsville, LeRoy Stavinoha of Houston, and Eddie Stavinoha Jr. of Houston; sisters, Ceil Weyand and husband Lester of Cypress, Katherine Stavinoha of Stafford, and Betty Wagner and husband Melvin of Round Rock; and seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Fran Stavinoha; son, Cecil Stavinoha; grandson, Justin Stavinoha; and father, Edmond Stavinoha.
Pallbearers were Casey Stavinoha, Hadley Sciba, Billy Sciba, Dennis Stavinoha, Mark Stavinoha, Tim Stavinoha, Manual Martinez and Keith Wagner.

Final Rites for Jim Stavinoha May 6
Funeral services for Jim C. Stavinoha, 74, of San Antonio, were held Monday morning, May 6, from Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home and St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Schulenburg, with burial in St. Michael’s Cemetery here.
Msgr. Paul Ehlinger of San Antonio officiated, assisted by Rev. Robert Schmidt of Moulton, Rev. Kevin Smith of San Antonio and others.
Mr. Stavinoha died May 3 at Southwest Methodist Hospital, San Antonio. He had been ill since March 17.
Born Sept. 7, 1899, at Ammannsville, he was the son of Joseph and Anna Adamcik Stavinoha. He married Tillie Fisher at Ammannsville on Nov. 7, 1927.
He operated a store at High Hill for a number of years and in 1951 became a field agent for the state comptroller’s Office of Public Accounts in San Antonio.
He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus at La Grange, later transferring his membership to Schulenburg, and also was a member of St. Joseph’s Society at High Hill.
His wife survives, along with one son, Marcus, of Houston; one daughter, Mrs. Donald (Marietta) McDain of San Antonio; five grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. A. J. (Della) Kristek and Mrs. Emil (Mary) Hluchanek of Weimar, Mrs. Jerome (Martha) Bohac of Ammannsville and Mrs. L. L. (Lillie) Horak of Needville; and three brothers, George of La Grange, Adolph of Temple and Joe of Weimar.

Data Regarding Mr. J. F. Stavinoha’s Life
Mr. J. F. Stavinoha of Ammannsville, who died Jan. 5th, 1930, in Weimar at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Emil Hluchanek, was buried at Ammannsville, Revs. Szymanski of Weimar and Raska of Ammannsville officiating.
By occupation Mr. Stavinoha was a farmer and carpenter. Some twenty-five years ago he lost one of his eyes while doing carpenter work. All of his children were given a start in life for themselves. About two years ago he removed from his farm to the city of Ammannsville.
Mr. Stavinoha was born Oct. 12, 1858 in Zabreau, Moravia, Austria, being a son of Peter Stavinoha. He came to Texas at the age of 16 years. He was married to Miss Annie Adamcik Nov. 6, 1879. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary two months ago, on Nov. 4th 1929. To this union eleven children were born, all of whom survive, as follows: Emil of Rosenberg, Alert and Fred of Fairchilds, Joe of Ganado, Adolph of Temple, George of LaGrange, Jim of Ammannsville, Mrs. Lillie Horak of Needville, Mrs. Mary Hluchanek of Weimar, Mrs. Martha Bohac of Ammannsville and Mrs. Della Kristek of Weimar. Mr. and Mrs. Stavinoha are also the grandparents of forty children. Mr. Stavinoha lost by death three sisters and one brother. Two brothers still survive – Cyril of Jourdanton and Adolf of near Ammannsville; also one sister, Mrs. Agnes Barta of Jourdanton.
Truly a grand good character has passed from among us!

J. Stavinoha Rites Held Here June 4
Funeral services for Joseph E. Stavinoha, 88, were held Saturday, June 4, in St. Michael’s Catholic Church, with burial in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
Mr. Stavinoha was born Feb. 25, 1889, at Ammannsville, one of 11 children born to Joseph F. and Anna (Adamcik) Stavinoha. He married Theresia Berger here Oct. 2, 1916. She died in 1967 at Ganado, where Mr. Stavinoha had been in the dry goods business for 40 years. After her death he moved back to Weimar.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Werner J. Stavinoha of Weimar; two grandchildren, Peter Kim Stavinoha and Anne Stavinoha; four sisters, Mrs. Lillie Horak of Needville, Mrs. Martha Bohac of Columbus, Mrs. Mary Hluchanek and Mrs. Adela Kristek of Weimar; and two brothers, A. A. Stavinoha of Temple and George Stavinoha of La Grange. Four brothers preceded him in death: B. B. Stavinoha, Vojt Stavinoha and Emil Stavinoha of Rosenberg and Jim Stavinoha of San Antonio.
Pallbearers were William B. Stavinoha, Jodie Stavinoha, John A. Hajovsky, Wilbur Grohmann Sr., George Berger and Joe W. Hartensteiner.

Final Rites for Mrs. J. Stavinoha Here Tuesday
Mrs. Joseph E. Stavinoha, 68, of Ganado, mother of Werner J. Stavinoha of Weimar, was buried in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery here Tuesday morning, July 11, after services at Psencik Funeral Home and Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Ganado.
Rev. Wm. Halata officiated in the Ganado rites, Rev. Albert Hubertus at the graveside.
Mrs. Stavinoha died at 5:50 p.m. Sunday, July 9, at Mauritz Memorial Jackson County Hospital in Ganado, where she had been a patient five and a half weeks.
The former Theresia Berger, she was born August 16, 1898, at Weimar, a daughter of Joseph and Theresia Kasper Berger, and was married here to Mr. Stavinoha on October 2, 1916. They lived here until 1924, and after a year at Moulton and two and half years at Edna they settled at Ganado, where Mr. Stavinoha went into the dry goods business. They have lived there since.
Mrs. Stavinoha was a member of Assumption Church, the CDA, the Parish Sewing Circle, the KJZT, and the VFW Auxiliary.
Surviving in addition to her husband and her son are two grandchildren, Peter Kim and Ann Stavinoha of Weimar; one brother, Joe Berger of Weimar; and one sister, Mrs. Albert (Emma) Grohmann Sr. of Weimar. Two sisters, Mrs. Ida Hartensteiner and Mrs. Millie Polk, preceded her in death.
Pallbearers were George Berger, Wilbur Grohmann, John A. Hajovsky, Joe Hartensteiner, all of Weimar; Albert Farris of Ganado; and Teddy Stavinoha of Rosenberg.

W. J. Stavinoha Services Held On Aug. 16
Longtime Weimar attorney and civic leader Werner J. Stavinoha age 79, died on Wednesday, Aug. 13, after a brief illness.
He was born Aug. 6, 1918 in Weimar to Joe E. Stavinoha and Theresia Berger Stavinoha.
He attended St. Michael School in Weimar and public schools in Ganado.
Stavinoha served in the U.S. Navy in World War II.
On Dec. 27, 1947, he married Beverly Welch in Crockett.
He enrolled in Rice University for Pre-Law, graduated from the University of Texas School of Law and was licensed to practice law in 1950.
Stavinoha was a member of the' Colorado County Bar and Fayette County Bar Associations, and was licensed to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, beginning on January 18, 1961.
He was a member of the third and fourth degree Knights of Columbus, having served as Grand Knight of the Local Council, Local and State Advocate and District Deputy.
He had served as a member of the St. Michael Church Board, as well as the Hospital Board.
He had a number of other civic affiliations including Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Weimar Development Foundation.
He was a past-president of the Weimar Rotary Club and served as Weimar City Attorney for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Beverly; daughter, Ann of Boulder Creek, Calif.; son, Peter Kim and wife, LuLu of Dallas,. and three grandsons, Clarke, Hudson, and Peter.
Rosary was recited Friday, Aug. 15, with funeral Mass being celebrated Saturday, Aug. 16, at St. Michael Catholic Church, with Father John Bily officiating.
Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Wilbur Grohmann, Jr., Donald Grohmann, Pat Hluchanek, Sam Pitts, Jr., William Brink, and Alfred Robinson.
