Stancik, Alvin

Funeral services for Alvin Stancik, 77, of Ganado were held Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at St. James Lutheran Church in Ganado with the Rev. Bruce Adamson officiating. Interment followed at Brune Cemetery near Shaw's Bend.

Mr. Stancik died Nov. 25. Born Nov. 11, 1923, to the late Joseph L. and Emma Ahlgrim Stancik, he was an insurance agent for Franklin Life Insurance Company and is a member St. James Lutheran Church of Ganado. He is a member of the American Legion Post #346, Ganado VFW Post #3497, a charter member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, Church Council and the Ganado Volunteer Fire Department. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Justice of the Peace of Pct. 2 in Jackson County from 1971-75, he was also a Ganado Little League coach. He and Frances Helen Stancik of Ganado were married on March 22, 1946, in Warrenton.

Survivors include his wife; daughter, Sharon Sue Poarch, LaVernia; sons, Wayne Morris Stancik, Vanderbilt, Elliott Earl Stancik, Ganado, Kevin Glenn Stancik, Port Lavaca, and Darren Jay Stancik, Edna; sisters, Lillie Poenitzsch, Columbus, and Ornie Mae Horndt, Ellinger; brother, Melvin Stancik, Eagle Lake; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents; and brothers, Clinton Stancik, Le Roy Stancik and Arthur Stancik.

Pallbearers were Wade Watkins, Blake Stancik, Kurt Stancik, Corey Brooks, David Stancik and Leon Schobel. Honorary pallbearers were other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and hunting buddies from Buck Inn in Ezzell from the 1960's.

Memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, Edna.

Arthur V. (Mickey) Stancik
April 12, 1926 - November 9, 1986

Services for Arthur V. (Mickey) Stancik, 60, of Columbus were held Tuesday, November 11 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Columbus with Rev. Edward Geiser officiating.

Interment was in the St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery in Columbus.

Stancik died November 9 as the result of an automobile accident.

He was born April 12, 1926 to Joseph Stancik and Emma Ahlgrim in Shaws Bend.

He was a lifetime resident of the Columbus area and a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

On September 6, 1949, he married Martha May Laake.

Stancik was a maintenance man by occupation, employed by Bob Stanley.

He served in the Army in World War II.

Preceding him in death were his father and two brothers, Clinton Stancik and Lee Roy Stancik.

Survivors include his wife, Martha of Columbus; his mother, Emma Stancik of Shaws Bend; four daughters, Diane Kollmann, Barbara Lejeune, Karen and Jennifer Stancik all of Columbus; four sons, Anthony Stancik of Houston, Arthur Ray, Mark and Darryl Stancik of Columbus; two sisters, Lillie Poenitzsch of Shaws Bend and Onie Mae Horndt of Garwood; two brothers, Alvin Stancik of Ganado and Melvin Stancik of Eagle Lake and nine grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Lester Richter, Jr., Randy Stancik, Harvey Poenitzsch, Michael Hollmann, Elliott Stancik and Gerald Laake.

Stancik, August Frank

August Stancik, 53, Victim of Wharton County Accident

August Frank Stancik, 52, Columbus electrical contractor who was the victim of a one-vehicle Wharton County traffic accident Sunday afternoon was laid to rest in St. Anthony's Catholic cemetery Tuesday morning.

Last rites were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony's church with Rev. Joseph Dean officiating. Members of Paul Perry Hastedt Post 6113, VFW, of which he was a member gave him a military funeral.

Mr. Stancik was killed when his truck went out of control on a Highway 71 curve Sunday at 4:20 p.m. and turned over on him after he had been thrown out. He was alone.

The accident occurred south of Danevang.

Mr. Stancik had been in the electrical contracting business several years and has done work on many Colorado county buildings as well as buildings elsewhere.

He was a subcontractor on the addition now going up to Columbus hospital.

Mr. Stancik was born Feb. 10, 1910 in La Grange, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Vince Stancik. He served in the army in World War II.

Survivors include his widow, 3 sisters, Mrs. Julia Knapek of Schulenburg, Mrs. Lydia Supak of Rosenberg and Mrs. Agnes Supak of Fayetteville; 3 brothers, Louie Stancik of Runge, Raymond Stancik of Columbus and Joe Stancik of Eagle Lake.

Stancik, Carol Ann (Reeves)

Mrs. Stancik, Former Resident, Dies After Crash

Funeral services for Mrs. Edward J. Stancik of Waller were held Monday at 3 p.m. at Buffington Chapel in Yoakum, Rev. Lee Nelson of Wharton, Rev. Lowell Thomas of Waller and Dr. Farrar Patterson of Columbus officiating. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery at Yoakum.

Mrs. Stancik, age 25, formerly Carol Ann Reeves of Glidden, died at noon Saturday in a Hempstead Hospital from injuries received a short while earlier in an auto accident. Her 3 children who accompanied her were only slightly injured in the crash.

Mrs. Stancik was expecting another child in 6 weeks. The accident happened approximately at 11:30 a.m.

She was a member of the Baptist church in Waller and a 1961 graduate of Columbus high school.

Surviving are her husband, Edward J. Stancik, 2 sons, Edward Jr., 6 and James 5, a daughter, Cara, 3, of Waller; her mother, Mrs. Juanita Reeves and a brother, Andrew Reeves, both of Glidden.

Pallbearers were James E. Suggit, Pal Tesch and Frankie Fry of Waller, Allen Park of Hockley, Samuel McCray of Freeport and John Frnka of Columbus.

Mr. Stancik is employed with James E. Suggit, Dodge and Chrysler dealer, in Waller. The family lived in Columbus until they moved to Waller a year ago.

Stancik, Clinton Joseph

Last Rites Held Fri. For Clinton Stancik

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, June 2nd for Clinton J. Stancik of Columbus, brother-in-law of Mrs. Edward Walker, both of this city. Mr. Stancik died Wednesday night, May 31st at his home in Columbus from a heart attack.  He had been in poor health for many years. 

Funeral services were held at Henneke-Untermeyer Funeral Home in Columbus with internment at the Catholic cemetery in Columbus.  Mr. Stancik's nephews served as pallbearers.

Mr. Stancik was born Sept. 2, 1915 to Joe and Emma Stancik at Shaws Bend. On June 22, 1936 he was united in marriage with Miss Rosie Gold in Weimer.  Mr. Stancik became a carpenter and lived around the Shaws Bend area all of his life.

He is survived by his wife; two children, Edward Joe of Columbus and Mrs. Sidney Falyben of Rosenberg; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stancik of Shaws Bend; two sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Poenitzsch of Shaws Bend and Mrs. Clarence Horndt of Columbus; four brothers, Melvin of this city, Leroy of Glidden, Alvin of Ganado, and Arthur of Glidden; five grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Edward Walker of this city.

Stancik, Earline (Foster)

Mrs. Stancik’s Services Are Held Here Sept. 18

Funeral services for Mrs. Earline Foster Stancik were held at Untermeyer Funeral Home Sept. 18 with burial in Odd Fellows Rest cemetery. Rev. H. L. Anderson officiated.

Mrs. Stancik died in Columbus hospital Sept. 17 after several months of illness. She was 49.

The deceased was born at Ellinger Dec. 14, 1913, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John J. Foster. June 25, 1930, she was married to Raymond W. Stancik. They made their home in Columbus. Mrs. Stancik was employed at the S. K. Seymour lumber and hardware company for 15 years. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran church.

Surviving are her husband and a son, Edgar L. Stancik, of Columbus.

Pallbearers were Alvin Stancik, LeRoy Stancik, Arthur Stancik, Lester Foster, Sammy Staples and Wesley Kollmann.

Stancik, Eddie

Eddie Stancik, 61, of Columbus passed away Sept. 20 at Memorial Herman Hospital in Katy.

He was born Sept. 12, 1941 to Clinton and Rosie (Gold) Stancik in Shaws Bend. He married Becky Goynes on Sept. 23, 1991. He was a lifetime resident of Columbus and a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He was retired as a shop foreman for the City of Columbus, and a mechanic.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and first wife, Carolyn Ann Reeves Stancik.

He is survived by his wife, Becky Stancik of Columbus; daughters and sons-in-law, Cara and Robert Canik of Austin and Tanya and Gary Estrada of Columbus; step-daughters, Blanche Fox of Dallas and Grace Free of Alvin; sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Tammy Stancik of Columbus, James and Cherie Stancik of Glidden and Aaron Stancik of Austin; step-son, Thomas Hamrick of Columbus; sister, Joyce Faldyn of Rosenberg; and 16 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sept. 22 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus with Father Dan Kahlich officiating. Interment followed at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Columbus.

Pallbearers were Lawrence Dungen, Johnie Kubicek, Ronnie Stancik, Rodney Kolb, Lloyd Clendennen and Floyd Fisher.

Services Held in Columbus for Emma Stancik

Funeral services for Emma Stancik, 98, of Shaws Bend were held Saturday, September 9, at the Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus with Pastor John Hunsicker officiating. Burial was in Brune Cemetery in Shaws Bend.

Mrs. Stancik died Sept 7 at River Oaks Nursing Home in Columbus.

She was born May 18, 1897 in Fayetteville to August and Caroline (Staffeldt) Alhgrim. On August 16, 1915, she married Joe Stancik.

She was a life-long resident of the Shaws Bend area and a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbus.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Lillie and Lloyd Poenitzsch of Shaws Bend and Onie Mae and Clarence Horndt of Garwood; two sons and daughters-in-law, Alvin and Frances Stancik of Ganado and Melvin and Joyce Stancik of Eagle Lake; three daughters-in-law, Rosie Stancik and Martha Stancik, both of Columbus and Bernice Stancik of Glidden; a sister, Ida Kahlden of Weimar; 34 grandchildren; 54 great grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; sons, Clinton, Lee Roy and Arthur Stancik; granddaughter, Polly Poenitzsch McRoberts; parents, August and Caroline Ahlgrim; sisters, Augusta Willman and Bertha Ahlgrim; and brothers, Paul, Max and Charles Ahlgrim.

Pallbearers were J. R. Horndt, Edward Joe Stancik, Joe Stancik, Darren Stancik, Darryl Stancik, Darrell Stancik, Jeff Poenitzsch and Randy Stancik. Honorary pallbearers were the grandsons and granddaughters.

Frances Marie Stancik

Funeral services were held for Frances Marie Stancik Saturday, March 5 from First Baptist Church in Columbus under the direction of Henneke Funeral Home with Rev. Raymond Cox officiating.

Burial was at Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery in Columbus.

Frances Marie Stancik was born February 12, 1921 in Hartford, Conneticut to Joseph Calabrese and Antoinette DiJuro Calabrese. She married William "Bill" Stancik.

Mrs. Stancik was a bookkeeper and a member of the First Baptist Church in Columbus.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Stancik, June 5, 1977.

Survivors include her daughter, Lenore Carpo of Columbus; sisters, Mary Utzig of Glastonbury, Conneticut and Virginia Leffler of Fort Meyers, Florida; brother, Domionic Calabrese of East Hartford, Connecticut; and two grandchildren, Chris Frenzel and Shannon Frenzel.

John J. Stancek

Funeral services for John J. Stancek were held Dec. 21 at Henneke Funeral Home, with The Rev. Robert Schlordt officiating. Burial was in Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery.

Mr. Stancik died Dec. 20 at his home. He was born Sept. 1, 1914 in Fayette County, the son of Vince and Sophie Slovak Stancek.

On Jan. 18, 1939, John Stancek and Lavine Shultz were married. They had one son, Jerry.

Mr. Stancek was a retired welder. He was a lifetime resident of Columbus, and was a member of the Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lavine Stancek of Columbus; one son, Jerry Stancek of San Antonio; 2 sisters, Mrs. Annie Mae Frericks of Houston and Mrs. Alvina Thimas of Columbus, and one brother, Lawrence Stancek of Houston.

Pallbearers were Raymond Hoffman, E. L. Scoggins, Calvin Kollman, Arthur Stancik, Bill Fisk and Douglas Glass.

Joseph Stancik

Funeral services for Joseph L. Stancik were held Oct. 28 at Henneke Funeral Home. Rev. Lee Eschberger officiated. Burial was in the Brune Cemetery in Shaws Bend.

Mr. Stancik died Oct. 26 at Autumn Hills Convalescent Home.

He was born Dec. 20, 1895 in Fayetteville, the son of Vince and Julie Stancik. On Aug. 16, 1915, he was married to Emma Ahlgrim. They had 7 children.

Mr. Stancik was a retired farmer, and had lived in the community all of his life. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Ellinger, and belonged to the St. Isadore Lodge in La Grange.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Emma Stancik of Shaws Bend; 2 daughters, Mrs. Lloyd Poenitzsch of Shaws Bend and Mrs. Clarence Horndt of Eagle Lake; 4 sons, Lee Roy Stancik of Glidden, Alvin Stancik of Ganado, Arthur Stancik of Columbus and Melvin Stancik of Eagle Lake; 2 sisters, Mrs. Julie Knapek of Hallettsville and Mrs. Lydia Supak of East Bernard; 2 brothers, Louis Stancik of Galveston and Raymond Stancik of La Grange; 35 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

A son, Clinton Stancik, preceded him in death.

Lee Roy Stancik

Lee Roy Stancik, age 62, passed away Thursday, May 10, at the Diagnostic Hospital in Houston.

He was born March 13, 1922 at Shaws Bend, Texas to Joe Stancik and Emma Ahlgrim Stancik. He was a retired electrician, and lifetime resident of the Columbus area. He was a member of V.F.W. and a veteran of WW II Pacific Theatre.

Survivors include his wife Bernice of Glidden; his mother Mrs. Emma Stancik of Shaws Bend; a daughter Belinda Hill of Kingwood; three sons, Ronnie Stancik of Glidden, David Stancik of La Grange, Randall Stancik of Borden; two sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Poenitzsch of Shaws Bend, Mrs. Clarence Horndt of Garwood; three brothers, Alvin Stancik of Ganado, Arthur Stancik of Columbus, Melvin Stancik of Eagle Lake; and 6 grandchildren, Rhonda Stancik, Jessika Stancik, Meredith Stancik, Lance Stancik, Alison Hill and Jason Hill.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Clinton Stancik.

Funeral services were at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 12, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbus with Pastor Robert Schlortt officiating. Interment was at Brune Cemetery, Shaws Bend.

Pallbearers were: Wayne Stancik, Elliot Stancik, Darrell Stancik, Anthony Stancik, Robert Poenitzsch, and James Horndt. Honorary pallbearers were all the nephews.

Funeral services were under the direction of Henneke Funeral Home.

Stancik, Mary A. (Meyer)

Funeral services for Mary A. Stancik of Columbus were held Saturday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church under the direction of Henneke Funeral Home.  Interment was in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery.

Mrs. Stancik passed away Aug. 1 at Sweetbriar Nursing Home.  She was 71 years of age.

She was born to Willie Meyer and the former Emma Koch on Oct 12, 1908 in Fayette County near Frelsburg.  She resided most of her life in Columbus.

Her husband, August Stancik, preceded her in death in 1965.

She was a member of the Catholic Church.

Survivors include four sisters, Mrs. Jose Klimek, Mrs. Emma Canik and Helen Havel, all of Fayetteville and Mrs.Lillie Laake of Columbus.

Pallbearers were Alex Laake, Tompo Kuhn, Jerry Krenek, Al Gene Canik, Johnny Shimek and Mickey Stancik.

Father Arnold Anders officiated at the services.

Raymond W. Stancik

September 7, 1907 - September 8, 1992

Raymond W. Stancik, 85, of La Grange and formerly of Columbus passed away Tuesday, September 8, 1992, at the Columbus Community Hospital.

He was born on September 7, 1907, in Oldenberg to Venzel and Julia Vojtek Stancik. On July 9, 1966, he married Daisy Cernosek.

He was a retired mechanic and school bus driver for Columbus Independent School District.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Earline Foster Stancik; parents; and four brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Daisy Stancik of La Grange; a son, Edgar L. Stancik of Columbus; three step-daughters, Francis Kana and Lil Tiedt, both of Houston and Rosalie Stevenson of La Grange; three step-sons, Richard and Jack Cernosek, both of La Grange and Edwin Cernosek of Houston; 14 step-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Raymond Stancik were held on September 10 at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus with the Rev. Scott Herren officiating.

Interment followed at Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery in Columbus.

Pallbearers were Melvin, David and Ronnie Stancik, Roger and Robby Tiedt and Gary Cernosek.

Services for Rosie M. Stancik, 82, of Columbus were held Nov. 1 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus with Father Dan Kahlich officiating.

Burial follow at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery.

Stancik was born March 23, 1916, in Weimar, Texas, the daughter of Edward and Theresa Janecka Gold.

She was united in marriage with Clinton Stancik on June 22, 1936.

Stancik was a retired nurses' aid and affiliated with St. Anthony Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Tillie Pohemeyer; a brother, George Gold; and a son-in-law, Sidney V. Faldyn.

Survivors include her daughter, Joyce Faldyn of Rosenberg, a son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Becky Stancik of Columbus; five sisters, Tracy Fisher of El Campo, Alice Brandes of Seguin, Hattie Walker of Eagle Lake, Ida Strong of Houston and Elizabeth Mertz of Schulenberg; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Joe, James and Aaron Stancik, Robert Canik, Gary Estrada, Thomas Hamick and Donald Faldyn.
