MCDONALD
Michael Thomas McDonald Sat Jan 24 23:12:09 1998
I have been looking for help with William H. "Bill" MCDONALD who was
shot and killed in Eagle Lake, in 1898. Bill was from Ontario, Canada
and was married to Hanna or Anna IRWIN from Ontario as well. They and
Bill's nephew, James Nelson MCDONALD and his wife Harriet IRWIN came
to the area sometime prior to August 22, 1897, because their first
child IRWIN Alexander MCDONALD in Eagle Lake. The knowledge of how
Bill came to get shot has been lost. Some feel he was a lawman, some
a hired gun and others just a farmer like the rest of his family that
stayed in North Dakota. Although not sure it is thought that his body
was taken back to North Dakota by train. From reading the Capsule
History of Colorado Co., it looks like things were hopping in the
area in 1898. Of the children of this large family, almost nothing is
known about Bill. He did have at least 1 child, a daughter Jeanette,
born abt 1874 in Canada, but she may have married and never made it
to Texas. Thanks for any help, Mac.

I am looking for the burial place of Reinhardt and Hellina (JUNKER)
STOELTJE Jr. They immigrated to Texas in 1845 and lived in Frelsburg,
Colorado Co., through the 1880 census. They are not found on the 1900
census. Legend goes Reinhardt is the son of Renke and Margaretha
(BRUNS) STOELTJE and that Reinhardt and Hellina lived in Blumenthal,
Colorado Co. Both Reinhardt and Hellina were born in 1811 and he died
before his mother in 1892 and she died in 1896. None of these dates
have been proven! They had the following children; Anna FEHRENKAMP,
Lizzie MEHRENS, Margaretha STEINMETZ, Helena SCHNEIDER who in 1893
moved her family to Bauersville, Lavaca Co., and George STOELTJE who
never married and lived with his brother-in-law, Herman MEHRENS, in
Wharton Co., until his death in 1902. Any help you can give me in
locating their graves would be deeply appreciated. This has been an
on going mystery!
