A. Peschke. They have been hospitably received, and each is commander-in-chief at the respective residence.

Harry Youens, the well known car-inspector at Columbus, seemed to be in such a happy mood yesterday, that the Sunset Scribed deputed a gentleman friend of her acquaintance, (she being of course rather diffident about speaking to a strange man,) to ask him the cause of his great hilarity.
“Why,” he says, “it is enough to make any one glad; its a ten pounder and is going to be President some day.” The remarks was rather mysterious to the Sunset Scribe, but she thought she would put them in the CITIZEN, and perhaps some body would understand their meaning

Mr. W. E. Gillespie and his wife have been sailing around here in their matrimonial yacht, quietly, peacefully and happily, for about a year, with a smooth sea, until Sunday last, when a young sailor made his appearance and begged to be taken aboard. In the goodness of their hearts they gave him a berth. He was no sooner fixed up with everything comfortable, however, than he raised Cain, assumed the command of the ship, and we shall not be surprised if he keeps his position, and gives them some trouble, especially in the dead hours of the night when sailors ought to be asleep. He is a very find young gentleman, though, no mistake about that.

Columbus Cullings
Last Saturday morning at six o’clock the firmament in the southern portion of the town was lighted up by sky rockects[sic], roman candles, fire crackers, and other combustibles to such an extent that the good people concluded that the Siouxs had entered the town, and that there would be a wholesale massacre. It was Mr. George Gegenworth--it is a girl, weighs nine pounds, and is the first. Mother and child are doing well, and the physicians think by the grace of God, they will be enabled to save the father.

A friend tells us that on Wednesday morning of this week they had to open the double doors at his place of business ere Mr. Chas.
