Henry Krause

HENRY KRAUSE – Was born in Harris county, Texas, the 22nd day of January, 1853. His early life was spent on the farm in Colorado county. At the age of 14 he accepted a clerkship with Wm. Boethe in his general merchandise store. Here he remained for three years, after which he removed to Houston and went into business for himself, where he remained for five years. At the expiration of this time he returned to Columbus and entered into the general merchandise business. While there he was married in 1875 to Miss Nina Hahn, of Ellinger. In 1877 Mr. Krause disposed of his business and entered into the employ of H M Ehrenwerth, with whom he remained for twelve years. In 1889 Mr. Krause removed with his family to Hallettsville and entered into partnership with E H Mitchell, with whom he continued in business until the close of the year, when he opened up business in Moulton at his present stand. He carries a full line of general merchandise in stock and is one of the solid business firms of Moulton. He had three children, two daughters and one son. His two eldest children died, the first in 1882 and the other in 1880 at the age of seven years and are buried in Columbus.
